Old, Revisited.

I’m going to start going through older photos, and reworking them. Here are two I never released from an Ironman Practice at HSP in 2006. I really like them, and am not sure why I never put them out.

2010 OSOKO Event 2

Gallery is up!

OSOKO Event 2.

I’m extremely sick, so I’m going to try and keep this write up short so I can head back to bed.

Yesterday was One Shot One Kill Open (OSOKO) Event 2 at Tombstone Paintball Park in Colton, CA. The second event was held on and at the exact same field as event 1, but a difference in field layout and weather made for a very different event.

The layout was the stereotypical xball layout, doritos on one side, snake on the other, everything else in the center. But the one great thing was, is that every bunker was playable, and got played. The aggressiveness of the pump teams allowed for very different breakouts than what an average player is use to. Unfortunately, this layout was tough with the angles. Making for deadlocked games, or players getting unavoidably trapped by a more aggressive team. This is paintball though…. It happens.

With games starting at 8:15 in the morning, teams where there bright and early. Many before the field was even set up, so they can get time to walk the field in-between their, and the tournaments, busy schedule. All of the OSOKO Regulars came out to play. Teams like Check-it (V1 & V2), Hitmen, Those Pump Guyz, Yuma Rattlers, and Order of 7. You maybe have heard or seen these teams at local tournaments, or larger, national tournaments. If not, do some research. They are amazing to watch.

Games started at 8:10, and rolled by fast. A Few teams were deadlocked, but for the most part, games were quick, and full of amazing shots. The Sound of silence, and that solid clank of a paintball hit a mask is probably one of my most favorite sounds ever, and that was what you heard most of the time. That single, graceful, and accurate shot, hitting the un-expecting player, and causing the sidelines to explode. Most teams had an aggressive, and at the same time, conservative breakout, sending players up the field, and leaving one back center. Most teams would go dorito 2 or snake 2 off the break, sometime sending them even further up, and that’s what made it exciting at times. Those unexpected runs, most of the time, catching the team off guard. Either way, conservative or ultra aggressive, the teams made the games enjoyable, and the time go by faster than I expected.

The heat, however, was wrecking people. By 8, the sun was out, and was toasting Colton, making it partly cloudy, and 80 degrees. By 2, it was 94 and scorching. Clouds surrounding the area, but not going over the field. Many teams were prepared though, bringing tents, plenty of fluids, and in some cases, cold-wet towels to hang around their neck, or over their heads. But, no matter how prepared you are, the heat will get to you, one way or another. Unfortunately for me, the heat decided to make me several shades darker, and red. which is making it painful to type this.

Any-who, the games rolled on, and an interesting thing happened. There was a tie for 8th. (I think) It was between Kamandang and Magnitude. Both teams played hard, and Magnitude made it in to quarters. Keep this detail in mind. Quarters rolled on, and Magnitude, the lowest seed, played against the highest seed, knocking them out, and the trend continued until they found themselves in the finals. The Finals included Check it Factory NV-1 playing against Magnitude for first and second, and Check it Factory V2 playing Xandata for third and fourth. Both finals went to three games, with Check it NV1 beating Magnitude, and Check It Factory V2 beating Xandata for 3rd.

Overall, it was a great event. The crowd was great, refs were on point, and schedule ran smooth. This is the way way a tournament should be, nice and smooth. Of course you have the on-field drama, but the comradery over came that, and made for a good time. Only at a pump tournament will you here someone apologize for overshooting. I can’t wait for the next event…

Oh, the taco truck, by the way, was awesome! And my gallery will be up sometime this week.

Summertime

IMG_0404Shot photos of my friends bike with the new graphic kit the other night. Figured it deserved an update. Anywho, aside from that, I’ll be at OSOKO Event 2, and WCPPL Event 4. Other than that, I have a few photo shoot sprinkled, some web work, and a few videos I’m doing.
